Michael Cloninger joined the Kalsi Engineering team at our Charlotte, North Carolina office on January 8th, 2018. He joins the Consulting Group and will support the various engineering needs of our clients.  Having spent many years working with valves, not only from an engineering and maintenance perspective, but also from actual hands-on operating experience, he welcomes the opportunity to utilize KVAP for valve and actuator sizing and valve analysis. He is also looking forward to supporting utility clients with implementation of the ASME Operation and Maintenance Code (OM) Appendices III and IV for their Motor Operated Valve (MOV) and Air Operated Valve (AOV) programs.

Michael is from Gastonia, North Carolina. He and his wife Andrea have been married for 29 years.  They have a son Joshua (19) and a daughter Anna (17), both of whom were adopted at birth in North Carolina.  Michael enjoys the outdoors, and loves hiking, camping, hunting, and just about anything that allows him to be in the woods among nature.

On the professional side, Michael has a mechanical engineering degree and a Professional Engineer license in North Carolina.  He has spent most of his career on the utility side of the nuclear industry.  During that portion of his career, he held positions such as Air Operated Valve (AOV) Program Lead at McGuire Nuclear Station, Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) at Oconee Nuclear Station, and Engineering Supervisor for the valve/equipment group at Catawba Nuclear Station.  His most recent position was Project Engineer in the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of new-build nuclear projects. After joining Kalsi Engineering, Michael wrote, “With my nuclear career of almost 30 years, I am very aware of the highly respected reputation that KEI™ has in the industry, so I feel honored and privileged to be able to work for this wonderful company.”
